Yours

EP - Yours

Play 90 second soundbite of 'Now You've Killed It' @ 'CD quality'

Yours is the band and 'Yours' also appears to be the title of this lengthy, great value for money, EP; nine tracks, would you credit it? Nine tracks on an EP when most bands would be hard-pressed to put eight together for a full-blown album. Wow!! But, it don't end there my friends! Oh no, Yours have created a real rock monster here; this is a wonderfully diverse set of brilliantly conceived songs that have no single genre allegiance, they run the gamut of popular rock-sided music forms and make rock a single entity once again! Forget sub-genre when it comes to Yours - Yours just rock, plain and simple!!

Yours make music! I can't really be more specific about Yours cuz this impressive trio seem to be able to turn their hands to anything from blues to punk, all successfully, all believably!! These 'guys' are young and just shouldn't have this knowledge and capability in their musical armoury - it beggars belief but, here they are, ready and up for it!! Yours are Luke Philbrick (guitar and vocals), Laura Alix Mitchell (bass and vocals) and Jake Philbrick (drums and vocals) and this awesome threesome make music-making sound easy; their breathtaking mish-mash of sounds, their genre-defying approach, their moderistic melee of bright dynamics make Yours something quite extraordinary, quite exceptional. It's quite obvious that all three are extremely competent and versatile musicians, it's equally obvious that their three voices allow them a certain degree of compositional latitude and it's also obvious that Yours can offer the world a degree of uncertainty, a creative length and breadth that most outfits would never come close to attaining. Yours are pretty-much a one-off!! Yours are something else!!

This stunning EP is actually quite challenging insofar as there is no single defining mood or vibe or sound to pick up on; it's totally fluid, in a constant state of flux, organic if you will!! Yours' music doesn't just cross or blur genre, it positively ignores that genre distinctions even exist - this is indeed a mighty fine work and I'm absolutely blown away by Yours' diversity and apparent understanding of music in all its flavours, colours and nuances. Yours seem to explore almost every avenue of the popular rock music scene and manage to inject a bit of everything into their performances - this is awesome stuff!! This self-titled EP by Yours is nothing short of stunning and if Yours don't make it 'big' there's no justice in the world!!

Watch out for Yours - a force to be reckoned with, one very special outfit, bands like this don't come around every day so get a piece of the Yours action as quickly as you can - be there at the start!!
