Young @ Heart

Double CD - The Official Soundtrack + Mostly Live

Play 90 second soundbite of 'Should I Stay Or Should I Go' @ 'CD quality'

Accompanied by the phrase, and proving the point, 'you're never too old to rock n roll...', Young @ Heart sing their surgical socks off on this charming, colourful and really entertaining work. Disc one features 'From The Soundtrack' and disc two 'From Mostly Live' - for me it's just one big fun packed musical work-out - a proper gas - seriously good stuff!! No kiddin'!

The Young @ Heart 'cast' range in age from 72 to 88 and the 'guys' and 'gals' quite clearly loved doing this - quite right too - and, I tell you this, there are some very impressive performances here where every last emotion is eked out of the words. Cor blimey, I wish I had the chance to join in with something like this! Anyway, 'Young @ Heart - The Official Soundtrack + Mostly Live' is a wonderfully entertaining piece of British 'right-to-rock' - a real blast, a great chunk of eccentric escapism. The choice of songs here is absolutely inspired - well done to whoever laid this all out. And, if this is promo'd properly, it could sell like the proverbial hot cakes. Quite right too - it's got 'winner' stamped right through it.

As the 'lads' and 'lassies' belt out their songs (and what a great selection of 'classic' pop and rock songs it is) you can almost sense the smiling faces and laughter tears. This must have been so much fun to put together and, I have to say, Young @ Heart really make it happen!! I don't care what anyone says about this album because I admire these crazy senior citizens, I love their drive, I love their passion and I really really love their collective and individual 'balls' for going for it in such a convincing and enjoyable way! I have nothing but respect for Young @ Heart after hearing this thoroughly entertaining work. And, this is actually a pretty big work with twenty-seven tracks to get your head around. But, it's worth all the effort, all the time and all the aching cheeks (from smiling!) to sit it out or lie back and just enjoy every lovely minute of the thing. My God, the passion, the emotion that's gone into this is unbelievable - you just have to listen to great tracks like 'Forever Young' to know what I mean - extraordinary!! I'm absolutely hooked!! This is monstrous! Awesome! An absolute giant of an album - fan-bloody-tastic!! No really, I loved every minute and I can't wait to hear it again

Of course, there are serious 'messages' being delivered here and the whole 'happening' probably changed lives and caused a certain amount of re-thinking and re-assessment. The concept behind the whole thing wasn't just to boost the moral of a few chosen 'singists' but to show, via the documentary, some of the trials and tribulations of the elderly, the highs, the lows. As honest as the day is long, as entertaining as the most entertaining thing you could think of, as charming as Prince Charming on a charming horse on a charming day. Special!! Very Special. 'Young @ Heart - The Official Soundtrack + Mostly Love' by the remarkably roguish bunch of recycled teenagers, Young @ Heart, is simply wonderful! Surely a massive hit - surely a piece of history in the making! Bloody marvellous!!
