Play 90 second soundbite of 'Never Time' @ 'CD quality'
I've been waiting quite a while to get a copy of this three track demo. At last it's arrived and I'm not disappointed - in fact I'm more impressed than I thought I would be - much more!!.
There's just three tracks totalling just short of eleven minutes, but those eleven minutes are packed with Xsister's earthy indie/rock vibes and energy. 'Never Time', 'Something Else' and 'Left It Again' leave the listener in no doubt about Xsister's abilities or capabilities. These three superb tracks are laden with massive, incessant riffs, great kick-ass, punchy rhythms and brilliantly scary (in the nicest possible way) vocals.
Although generally on the heavy side of their genre there's plenty of light and shade carefully slotted into the well arranged and produced songs. Musically Xsister seem to have all the qualifications judging by this superbly put together work. Lyrically they're also very impressive. But, most of all it's the full on commitment, passion and energy that stands them apart from many of their contemporaries. They 'feel' like a band that's already come a long way and worked extremely hard on their material and its representation.
Xsister are Paul Yates - guitars, Nick Poyner - Drums, Dan Clarke - bass and Rebecca (Beccy) Downes - Vocals and Guitars. They describe their genre as indie/rock but for me this is simply great, contemporary rock music with just a hint of indie (whatever that really is!). The overall depth of sound is awesome and Beccy's vocals are simply magnificent. These three tracks just aren't enough for me - I need more Xsister - and soon!!
I know Xsister are pretty damn good live and I've read that the band's motto is 'Keep Going' so I hope they do just that because, based just on this short demo, Xsister deserve some recognition and success.
