and, coming at a time when indie is struggling to find new direction, Will Kevans work is like a breath of fresh air.
Light and easy but sassy and damn catchy, 'Everything You Do' is a wonderfully weighted piece that, considering its country roots, shows a decent degree of pop sensibility. Kevans' silky vocal delivery is bolstered here by the individualistic tones of former Beautiful South singist Alison Wheeler - and it's a match made in heaven as the two fuse and compliment each other as if born to be together. The instrumentation is nicely understated and leaves plenty of room for the voices to slick out the great lyrics of struggling relationships without having to fight for priority or dynamic superiority. 'Everything You Do' is beautifully assembled and produced to give the listener a cool easy ride and proves that country influenced music is viable and just and definitely has a place in the fickle modern commercial marketplace.
'Everything You Do' is accompanied here by another wonderfully countrified work, 'Out There'. Again Kevans delivers this excellent song with easy elegance and relaxed confidence; 'Out There' continues the understated country theme and hooks you and reels you in with more of those catchy choruses and foot-tappin' melodies. Will Kevans' take on nu-country-rock is clearly defined and targeted; although the genre tends to struggle somewhat in the UK, Will Kevans has a new edge and likeability factor that might just turn the fickle arrow of fame to point in his direction. 'Everything You Do' by Will Kevans is welcome respite from the indie and pop norm - Kevans' syncopated country bias is certainly addictive enough to succeed where many others have failed - really tasty stuff this from Will Kevans - I like it a lot - hope you do too!!
