Play 90 second soundbite of 'This Is Your Life' @ 'CD quality'
'This Is Your Life' is punchy and pretty damn commercial sounding; the acoustic guitar that opens the piece gently drags you in just before the band kick in and really start to drill things home. Gritty vocals and memorable melodies carry the listener along and when the piece ends it's hard not to press 'play' once more. The playagainability of 'This Is Your Life' is quite hard to describe coz it's a track that has a slightly unnerving quality that suggests 'this shouldn't work' - but Wilburnsilver make it work!!
The piece is quite eclectic in feel - Wilburnsilver remind me of a rockin' Waterboys - there's a sort of lo-fi folk-rock element goin' on behind a wholesome, gritty indie drive; difficult to pigeonhole and equally difficult to describe. Suffice to say that 'This Is Your Life' by Wilburnsilver should suit many tastes and certainly suggests that Wilburnsilver are trying to do something just a little bit removed from the indie norm - thank goodness!! These guys aren't simply followers of fashion, they're creating their own style and doin' it damn well.
'This Is Your Life' by Wilburnsilver is a passionately executed eclectic rocker that tends to burrow its way into your head and then keeps on coming back to haunt you. A crackin' little single from a band that sound like they've got an awful lot to offer. Tasty stuff!!
