Oh my God!! What a great piece of work this is! If you're into blues in any way at all, you'll almost defo be into 'Family Meeting' - how could you not be?!!! Twenty-three glorious tracks of sumptuous, modern-edged blues, twenty-three tantalising blues work-outs done to a turn and totally cookin' on gas, twenty-three audio 'snap-shots' of magical 'moments' in blues time, twenty-three mind-numbing tracks showcasing all that's good about contemporary blues. Instrumentally and vocally every track is precise and crisp and the 'guests' sound totally at ease and unified with the core band. Musically this is the absolute mutt's nuts, pure blues heaven - the event has been superbly captured here and cleverly retains a stunning live feel, a warmth, an intimacy. Quality, quality, quality!
'Family Meeting' by Wentus Blues Band is an exceptional piece of work; the event itself must have been something else altogether, totally awe-inspiring and this subsequent double album release is equally mind-bogglingly good.
