Play 90 second soundbite of 'The Girl Has Gone' @ 'CD quality'
'Pop' messes with rock as Viva Finito zoom through the two tracks with effortless aplomb and seemingly total disregard for the aural health of the listener. Both tracks are very 'now'; pacey, rockin' and very well written and performed.
This is a relatively young but charismatic outfit with a natural penchant for creating catchy melodies with big 'balls'. Both songs a rammed full of big hooks and sing-along melodies that tend to stay firmly embedded in the memory bank - even after just one play! Rancid guitars from Ade Snake Eyes and Col Transfusion storm along to bolster the frantic back-line rhythm work of Jimmy Hot Skins and Andy Clopeck. Vocally Viva Finito are more than just sound - Transfusion's smooth but gutsy voice fits alarmingly well into overall aural landscape created by the instruments. He sings with precision and has a great delivery.
If I had to choose just one of the two songs to put forward as the 'A' side here I'd have to go for 'The Girl Has Gone'; I feel it just hits closer to the mark on commercial potential.
'Welcome To Fabulous Viva Finito' is a fine example of contemporary pop/rock that should earn Viva Finito a few Brownie points as they charge headlong into the crazy world of Brit pop rock. I can see these boys doin' very well for themselves!!
