Play 90 second soundbite of 'Your Sin City' @ 'CD quality'
Their main attack comes as something of an electric broadside and as they close in on you their fire engulfs everything around as they pound home their very own take on rock'n'roll mayhem.
'Your Sin City' has an underlying 'dirty' sound that mainly comes from the barrage of distorted guitars that persist to jangle and growl behind the female vocals. A solid sounding rhythm section drives the guitars into a frenzied stew of electric fuzz leaving no space at all spare for stops or even pauses. No dynamic space is wasted! 'Your Sin City' is further atmospherised (my word - is it a word!) by a distinct one-take, live undercurrent. The ballsy, attitudinal display from all three make this a distinct sounding work that's powerful and energetic and the tangible guts laid down during its making makes me think that 'Your Sin City' is something that Universal You really care about - it has meaning, form and it's close to their hearts.
There's no doubting the heartache that's gone into the making of 'Your Sin City' - it feels fierce and it sounds genuine but quite whether it's gonna be good enough to impress the general public I'm really not too sure. As a promo tool, yes! As a work to fill the bank vaults, maybe not! Universal You probably shed buckets blood, sweat, toil and tears over this work - this sounds serious to them but I can't really see Universal You scaling the charts just yet, well not with 'Your Sin City' anyway. It's a great little grafter that's for sure but, maybe not a true winner!
