Uncle Ray

Single - Miss You

Play 90 second soundbite of 'Miss You' @ 'CD quality'

Taken from the excellent album 'In Line With Mr.Jimmy', 'Miss You' is an ultra-chilled and sensual version of the Jagger/Richards classic. Actually, chilled only goes part way to describing the treatment and vibe here. It not only shows the strength of the original writing but it demonstrates the arrangement and production skills of Uncle Ray (Ray Singer); slick and sexy it drips from the speakers with fluidity and consummate ease. Crystal clear vocals by sexy soul diva Imaani are supported and enhanced by stunning instrumentation the backbone of which is made up of the bass, drums, percussion and keyboards all laid down by Singer himself. Atmospheric keys and synths carry the bulk of the song with beautifully poised acoustic guitar nestling subtly in the mix which finally make way for an awesome and moody sax 'break' from Mel Collins to close.

'B' side 'Off The Hook' is similarly chilled but sensitively punchy. Imaani is joined here briefly by rap artist Asha Senator. Singer seems to like the big moody endings as, once again, we are treated to a great climax featuring the deftly penetrating guitar of Winston Delandro. This is a strong and imaginative reworking that sits perfectly in-line with the main track.

To enlighten further, the album, 'In Line With Mr.Jimmy', from which these tracks are taken is "...dedicated to U.S. record producer Jimmy Miller (1944 - 1994) the man responsible for the seminal albums: Beggars Banquet, Let It Bleed, Exile On Main Street and Sticky Fingers. Producer/musician Uncle Ray (Singer), a disciple of Miller's, has re-worked versions of some of the Stones' classic songs.". I hope that puts this single release into context for you.

'Miss You'/'Off The Hook' is an absorbing and extremely classy release - chilled, sensual and very listenable.
