To-Mera

CD - Delusions

Play 90 second soundbite of 'The Lie' @ 'CD quality'

Where to start!! Breathtaking, exciting, exhilarating - fan-fuckin'-tastic!! There you go - my initial thoughts about this stunning album, Delusions', from To-Mera. In less than eighteen months To-Mera have become my band of choice - I can't stop playing them. Every time I listen I hear something new - every time it's like a voyage of discovery and adventure. Awesome!!

Initial thoughts maybe but, nothing's gonna change my feelings (even after about ten plays now!) on this one. I first had the good pleasure to come across To-Mera when their promo agents sent me a (promo) copy of their last album, 'Transcendental'. To-Mera absolutely blew me away then and 'Delusions' only strengthens my belief in this fantastic rock outfit. To-Mera are a band you really do have to experience to fully understand what they've got to offer!

The first album only disappointed in so far as I had no cover artwork or track listing etc so, I wasn't gonna wait and miss out this time around - I got my drummer mate to order two copies on pre-release direct from the band - I aint stopped playing it yet!! I don't care whether the agents send me another either - I'll keep one in the car and the other right next to the 'player'.

'Delusions' is probably even better than its fore-runner; it all seems much more together and studied and, dare I say it, I think To-Mera take even more risks here! This is pure genius, absolutely awesome. I've heard people say that they think that modern music has nothing to offer - try this on for size then you disbelievers!! Ok, so what do To-Mera actually do them? Well, their music takes in influences from across the decades; from Yes and ELP to Devin Townsend, from All About Eve to Evanescence - then you can fill the gaps in for yourself as you listen to To-Mera's music evolve and as you experience their breathtaking energy, power and skill. To-Mera drop in nuances of jazz, classical, pure rock, ambient and full-on metal that come together to form one helluva great and pleasurable 'noise'. I can't remember the last time an act moved me this much - Devin Townsend was probably the last one!

To-Mera are technically extreme - they go from break-neck pace to hauntingly emotional without hesitation or warning - it's a bit scary at times just what these dudes can do. How do they write such complex stuff? Then, how the hell do they manage to perform it? Well they do, and believe me this is special - To-Mera are special. To-Mera are masters of dark, masters of rock, masters of ambient - absolute masters of their art!! If I died before another CD dropped through my letter box, I'd still die happy after experiencing 'Delusions'. Me, I'm a happy man. To-Mera, they make me happy!

'Delusions' by the superb To-Mera is just about as exciting as it gets - it's a wonderful piece of modern rock music - it's challenging - it's inspired - it's fuckin' monstrous!!

Oh, and To-Mera, if you're feeling at all generous I'd love a 'proper' copy of 'Transcendental' for my collection go on, make my day!!
