Play 90 second soundbite of 'Blood' @ 'CD quality'
Anglo-Hungarian rock machine To-Mera are about to unleash their latest album on a very unsuspecting world audience - 'Transcendental' is awesome!! Packed to overflowing with big rock statements, Eastern influences, classical overtones, jazzy vibes, a hint of goth and everything in-between, 'Transcendental' is pure magic! Music for the mind, the soul and the heart. A total musical meltdown. A heady trip through time and space and a heck of an experience!
The overall sound and feel is massive - the vibe is simply gruesome - the effect is stunning - 'Transcendental' is how I like my music; bold, dark, contagious, thought provoking and totally up-front.
To-Mera pool their multi-influenced resources with mind-blowing professionalism. The gracefully ethereal vocals of Julie Kiss are reminiscent of Evanescence's Amy Lee. The massively effective rhythm section of drummer Lee Barrett and bassman Paul Westwood remind me of the combined powerhouse unit of early Yes but with more of a 'now' attack and precision. Hugo Sheppard's classically biased keyboards reek of the 'classics' of Renaissance's John Tout and yet fly in the face of convention like ELP's Keith Emerson . Guitar maestro Tom MacLean has the technical touch and gutsy flowing balls of Floyd's Dave Gilmore. Together To-Mera have a depth and passionate feel that only comes with supreme musicianship and hard gigging. To-Mera flow in and out of almost contradictory themes with an ease that's simply stunning; they rip apart convention and pour salt on the wounds of ailing rock and metal.
As I listen I'm transported through a musical landscape that is grand, almost volcanic, and yet Kiss manages to sound refreshingly serene as she weaves in and out with her beautiful voice. The overall result is a sort of organic naturalness cut through with stormy atmosphere and fiery aggression. Absolutely wonderful!!
