Tim Ten Yen

Single - Girl Number One

Play 90 second soundbite of 'Girl Number one' @ 'CD quality'

Tim Ten Yen has dedicated his life to writing genuinely happy music which he believes is the hardest thing in the world. 'Girl Number One' is pure, happy pop. With restrained simplicity and sing-along qualities it's just what Tim Ten Yen is searching for; a song that makes you smile.

Tim Ten Yen's music sits somewhere between The Pet Shop Boys, The Streets and Buggles; it's a light and retro blend of catchy melodies, join in-able choruses, honesty and youthful, story-telling lyrics. Tim Ten Yen wears his heart on his sleeve here; 'Girl Number One' seems to tell of Tim's failure with early romance - 'When The Song Applies To You' which sort of speaks for itself and 'Your Love Is All I Want', perhaps the search for love and the right girlfriend. Each as cutely infectious as the other, each blatant, unashamed 'pop'.

I'm not sure whether Tim Ten Yen is actually chart material but I can easily see this guy kickin' up a light storm at festivals and the like. His charming way, obvious sensitivity and honesty about his own feelings will raise spirits and make him many friends. But, as dedicated to his cause as he is, I don't actually see Tim Ten Yen becoming a household name just yet - a cult songsmith maybe but not a 'proper' pop star!

For me, well, Tim Ten Yen doesn't really shake my bush but there's an awful lotta people out there that'll find his work fascinating and likeable. I admire Tim Ten Yen's dedication and tenacity and I even admire him as a very individual and original artist. I hope Tim Ten Yen finds his 'pop of gold' and the love of his life and long may he continue to do what he so strongly believes in.
