CD - Into The World

Play 90 second soundbite of 'Disappearing Boy' @ 'CD quality'

Wow, genre blurring The Velvet Hearts certainly know how to make mighty fine music!! 'Into The World' is quality, quality, quality - a proper trip through modern popular music with stop-over's at plenty of top-up stations along the way. The Velvet Hearts don't make it easy on themselves though; slipping in and out of genre with consummate ease they redefine 'pop' by piling on the professionalism and raising the ante with brilliant song writing, stunning musicianship and an end product that's as good as it gets.

The Velvet Hearts glide effortlessly through eleven fantastic songs here - eleven varied yet perfectly honed musical outings that intoxicate as they amaze and excite! The Velvet Hearts, I suppose, are in the same sort of timeless musical place as Simply Red; in that mature and classy bracket that will always have its takers. The Velvet Hearts are refusing to be pigeon-holed yet coming up with massively impressive songs that sit somewhere that kinda approaches pop but is actually much, much more than pure pop. The Velvet Hearts take pop to another level all together - they cruise in and out of pop, slip between blues and jazz, touch on funk, do the ballad thing beautifully and border on anthemic as they ply their trade with a refined understanding of what makes British popular music so damn good and so unputdownable.

The Velvet Hearts really need to be experienced in the 'flesh' - the written word cannot do them justice - this is one helluva band and 'Into The World' is a very special piece of work. With everything so beautifully proportioned, solidly structured and magnificently performed, The Velvet Hearts make it hard to find fault anywhere. Certainly, 'Into The World' is a piece of musical perfection, grown-up pop, educated rock, the mutt's nuts of multi-genre music - ripe and juicy, overflowin' with goodness and burstin' with potential. 'Into The World' by The Velvet Hearts is nothing short of brilliant and, given good promotion and decent radio-play, it could become massive for this t'riffic outfit. Quite superb!!
