'The Alpha EP', in just three excellent tracks, says all that needs saying about this boisterous sounding outfit. The Tupolev Ghost take harmonious discord (is that a contradiction? More later!) to new levels; rasping bass lines, kerranging percussive onslaught, crunchin' guitar chord frenzies, outrageous vocal histrionics and then some!! The Tupolev Ghost give it big, bold and brash as they blast out their impressive, electrifying songs with gusto and well-seasoned verve. Angular, no, tangential modern musical works that pretty much defy categorisation other than to stick them squarely in the overall idiom that is 'rock'. Whatever, wherever, 'The Alpha EP' is a proper little monster; yes, just three tracks but what tracks!!
Now then, 'harmonious discord' - The Tupolev Ghost seem able to clash sound; like well forged, keenly honed fighting blades that sing with melodic rings as they strike each other - sound within sound, sound on sound!! The Tupolev Ghost make real big 'noise'; bordering on post-rock with hints of prog-rock but most certainly a unique 'noise' that's as hardcore as you need and as dirty as you want. The Tupolev Ghost make rock live again, give it new energy, fresh weight, a feeling of spontaneity and real passion!
