Play 90 second soundbite of '31st Floor' @ 'CD quality'
With two songs here that remind me of the great songwriting and unmistakable style of The Byrds twinned with the fx drenched droning of The Electric Prunes (who? I hear you ask. Check 'em out - it's a long time ago!!), The mighty Tamborines once again hit the spot! Just three talented guys but sounding bigger, The Tamborines once again make a joyous sound here with '31st Floor' and 'Come Together'. A rockin' brace of catchy pop-sided 'chunes' that are just that bit different from their contemporaries.
The Tamborines effortless style tends to disguises the fact that these dudes pen classic sounding tracks which they then let loose on the unsuspecting public; either song here could take pride of place, either gets the job done, both are rammed with tasty rock vibes and both drip with massive pop sensibility! The Tamborines sure know how to craft great, near timeless sounding, 'chunes'! And here, they also get the mix and production just right - the end result being two superb tracks that are full of sound and character but never over-cluttered or too gimmicky.
The Tamborines unusual line-up comprises Henrique Laurindo (vocals/guitar), Lulu Grave (organ/percussion) and Renato Tezolin (drums)! What, no bass player I hear you ask; apparently not, but you wouldn't know!! Anyway, '31st Floor' / 'Come Together' by The Tamborines is a blindin' double 'A' release; I can see no reason why this pairing shouldn't get loads of radio air play and well deserved chart placing. Their songs are always catchy and memorable as witnessed once again here and the Tamborines are certainly good enough to rise to the top of the pile. Two great songs from an impressively creative trio of pop-rockers that seem dedicated, focussed and capable!
