The Talks

Single - Picture This

Play 90 second soundbite of 'Picture This' @ 'CD quality'

'Picture This' is the debut single from The Talks; memorable, bubbly and instantly likeable, 'Picture This' and its 'B' side, 'Faces', tick all the commercial boxes imaginable. The Talks deliver their pop wares with near-tangible gusto and softly-ballsy attitude that makes you stop and take heed!

The Talks let rip here with a typically indie pop rocker that reminds me very much of the inherent ebullience and pop relevance of the '2 Tone' releases but with a modernistic twist. There's absolutely no doubting the potential here; The Talks hit the spot as soon as they strike up and they then just never let up 'til the last notes ring out. Both tracks here have been dealt near anthemic tendencies and superbly singalongable qualities - think Green Day mildly punkish attitude versus intrinsically charismatic McFly-type happy-pop and you'll be getting somewhere close to The Talks' cock-sure and appealing swagger.

The Talks' way is blatant and very likeable for it; poptastic drive combined with youthful energy and a hint of well proportioned good-time rockin' gives this outfit a head-start over most of their contemporaries - certainly, The Talks seem totally focussed on pop stardom and should be rewarded for their pacey endeavours and honest approach. Many bands would be thankful to have just half of The Talks' natural sale-ablity; The Talks seem to have honed in on all of pop's appeal but left out the insipid banality that so often goes hand-in-hand with today's commercial music.

'Picture This' by The Talks has everything it needs to make its presence felt in the fickle world we call 'pop' - The Talks keep it short and to the point and just get the job done in short order and with no messin'. 'Picture This' by The Talks is 00's rockin' pop at its up-tempo and kick-ass best - pretty damn cookin'!!
