Here's that word again - WOW!! 'Just In Time For Nothing' is a superb, monster of a piece of modern musical brilliance. Soaring guitars. Wall of sound. Rock-psychedelia. Hypnotic drones. Dreamy soundscapes. Subtle syncopation. All that and more!!

The Spectacle Experiment is essentially the brainchild of multi-instrumentalist Hadrian Mordecai (guitars, synths, vocals & percussion). He's helped out here by Scott Wilson (drums) and Mary Ann Wilson (vocals) and a few other 'friends'. What Mordecai has done here is quite remarkable. He's created a piece of 22 carat gold genius that takes the listener on a journey through stunning soundscapes of electronic wizardry and controlled musical mayhem. He then caresses that same listener with rich, calming, lullaby-esque sound-poems that bring peace and warmth to the soul. He plays with the senses over and over as the ten, quite exquisite, tracks unfold from the speakers. Waves of sound ooze out and I find myself relaxing into the vibe and picking out numerous subtle 'fills' that hide behind the more obvious melodies and anthem-like riffs. Each track picks at the senses and gnaws away at the psyche. This is a brave piece of work. It never sounds pretentious and self-indulgent as it squeezes itself from deep within Mordecai's heart and soul.

This is proper soul-food; music to inspire, sounds to waken demons and quell fears all at the same time. The way Mordecai has managed to bring together so many themes, styles and sounds is just superb! As I listen I feel myself being magically drawn into a gentle yet surreal world of calming mind-fuck. This is a real pleasure to behold.
