The Silent Committee

CD - The Missing

Play 90 second soundbite of 'Portrait Of A Girl In A Glass' @ 'CD quality'

The Silent Committee is the sonically orchestrated brainchild of experimentalist singer-songwriter Chris Fordham; Fordham dabbles with sound, messes with dynamics, fuses electronic with acoustic, Fordham makes minimalistic ambient sound, weaves sonic tapestries and creates concise, sensitive and moody symphonies for the mind and the soul.

The Silent Committee aka Chris Fordham takes experimental music and kinda pushes it through a sieve such that the resultant yield is a smooth, refined and user-friendly concoction of melodic noise and ethereal ambience. This aint exactly commercial stuff, I don't think The Silent Committee will be racking up loads of radio time with this kind of material but, for the like-minded experimentalist out there there's plenty to enjoy and get into.

Fordham's elegant and gentle musical way is close to being therapeutic relaxation material; you can close your eyes and let the sounds wash over and through you as you picture that exotic and happy place in your mind's eye to exorcise the day's more hurtful ventures and less wanted memories. There's a lot of pleasant jingles and rings that are bright but never too sharp, gentle percussive interludes, eerie and haunting melodies, captivating noises that never become too industrial, rather staying within the calming spectrum of modernistic sound. Thankfully, it's not a mind-fuck of electro-acoustic white noise, it's a hypno-tech of sound that's as synthetic as it is organic, as intoxicating as it is meditative.

The Silent Committee's 'The Missing' is ten tracks of well thought out, well executed, contemporary music to chill not thrill to - it's evocative and it's at times sensitively arousing but at no time does 'The Missing' jar on the senses. I reiterate, 'The Missing' isn't really commercial in a pop-sensibility kinda way, it's cultish music for the open-minded experimentalist, not fractured, more 'greenstick' - not fully broken but tentatively connected! 'The Missing' by The Silent Committee is a work of blissful harmonious discord that challenges the senses without causing undue unrest or consternation. 'The Missing' is what it is! 'The Missing' requires your attention but doesn't take you over completely, rather guiding and softly cajoling you into its heart to be sensitised and enlightened. 'The Missing' by The Silent Committee is experimental electro-acoustic music with compassion and understanding - a soothing journey, a voyage to new horizons, a safe and enjoyable passage through your own visions born out of this remarkably stimulating but beautifully restful work. Clever and inspiring stuff this from The Silent Committee - maybe not for everyone but certainly a journey well worth embarking on!
