The Sharpee's

Single - Bullfrog Blues

Play 90 second soundbite of 'Bullfrog Blues' @ 'CD quality'

'Bullfrog Blues' is a 'standard' blues classic. The Sharpee's new single is their take on that 'standard'.

The Sharpee's 'take' is pretty up-tempo but just feels a little lightweight. There's nothing fresh or new here - nothing to make me sit up and think "Wow, what's all this about!" I'm sure that as a live 'covers' outfit The Sharpee's kick up quite a storm but it just doesn't come across on this single. This could be any one of hundreds of cover versions - it's just got no 'balls', it just doesn't 'rock' me and it just doesn't float my boat.

The Sharpee's are described as being a "Blues/Rock Guitar Stars ReCovered Band" - I can see where that comes from! However, for me, The Sharpee's' version of 'Bullfrog Blues' doesn't quite hit the spot. It sounds a like a pale cousin of the original (and many other versions!). Sure, The Sharpee's are tight and they're energetic. And sure, they give it some welly. But, this just doesn't work for me. Sorry guys!
