Play 90 second soundbite of 'Safe In Your Arms' @ 'CD quality'
Seemingly, big rockin' riffs and hard driven rhythms combined with tasty, well delivered vocals is it the heart of this outfit's musical remit. Their songs are strong and there's sufficient variation within the songs' structures to give The Secret Sound that all important edge.
With their rock-solid performance on this four track demo it certainly appears that The Secret Sound have everything pretty much sorted, know what they want and get it all done with a very professional attack. Their sound is big without ever losing the plot; great separation and clever arrangements allow all component parts of the whole to be heard and enjoyed. The Secret Sound lay down some great licks and with strong melodies they come across as almost uniquely thoughtful and competent.
The Secret Sound play with superb tightness; their songs are often quite complex but they carry them extremely well through great musicianship and what seems to be a great understanding that's empathetic to each others' cause and that of the unit. And hey, I've only just realised that The Secret Sound are just a trio - bloody hell, they sound bigger than that! Impressive stuff and this'll be getting a few plays by me over the next few days and weeks.
