The Pretty Young Things

EP - The Pretty Young Things

Play 90 second soundbite of 'Eyes' @ 'CD quality'

This self released EP by The Pretty Young Things reminds me of The Rolling Stones meets Blue Cheer meets The Doors meets The Clash; it's brimming with great rockability, oozing with raw energy and gets the job done with relative simplicity and gutsy adrenalin.

With impassioned, throaty vocals roaring out through a positive pea-soup of crunchin' chords, distorted riffs, thunderous bass and robust percussion, you're left feeling somewhat drained yet nicely fulfilled. By the time The Pretty Young Things have got through their three tracks here, 'Eyes', 'Pretty Young Thing' and 'Pick Of The Bunch', you're left with no doubt about their commitment to kick-ass, deviant rock'n'roll. The whole EP has a rough-edged 'live' feel which actually lifts the thing to a higher place - it feels honest, genuine and has a certain gritty feel that no doubt captures their performing style and showcases their ballsy writing. It's a kinda 'back to basics' outing that suggests that The Pretty Young Things are bringing things 'home' and doin' it all just as it should be - with real passion and verve - a bit of rock reality that's always good to come across.

The Pretty Young Things EP is a superb introduction to a band that sound like they really mean business; these seem to be a real 'no bullshit' kinda band that give their all and just want you to get yer rocks off with them as they rip into their 'dirty' rock world. This is an impressive little EP - made more impressive by the earthy 'live' feel and the hard-driven, take it or leave it, attitudinal approach. Gutsy, honest stuff from a The Pretty Young Things.
