The Pocket Gods

Single - Night Lights / 9th Configuration

Play 90 second soundbite of 'Night Lights' @ 'CD quality'

More home made persuasive pop/rock from the madcap musical demons that are The Pocket Gods and 'Night Lights / 9th Configuration' is yet another trip into the raw but creative minds of this prolific outfit.

Is suppose this is a double 'A' side single; two tracks, both pretty good and typically rough edged but homely and very genuine, 'Night Lights' is quite a 'pretty' song for these 'guys'; slow and melodic it shows where The Pocket Gods have momentarily landed in on their musical journey through genre after genre. As they grind out their shared vocals there's an obvious new confidence in the voices - a new one-ness that suggests that Mark and Annelise have truly found their way together.

'9th Configuration' is ballsy slow rocker. More of the same shared vocals with guitars rolling around in big riffs and fills. Incessant percussion gives the number a high edge atop of the infectious guitars. Once again, Mark and Annelise sound very comfortable in each others presence, solidly working as one to bring the vocals to the fore.

I know that The Pocket Gods have been getting quite a bit of radio play recently and with 'Night Lights / 9th Configuration' I can see yet more air time as The Pocket Gods pile on the pressure with their tireless musicality and self-promotion. It seems now that The Pocket Gods have found where they want to be, well for a while anyway. Long live the creative force that is the unabashed, shameless but honest The Pocket Gods.
