The ex-Roxy Music 'blower' has taken his time over this and allowed the whole project to develop slowly but surely into the mighty beast that's now before me and enveloping me! Interestingly, 'London! Paris! New York! Rome!' is mainly a set of visionary re-workings seen as musical metaphors and the metaphored 'covers' are, 'Three Coins In A Fountain,', 'I Love Paris', 'New York, New York' and 'Waterloo Sunset', plus, a re-working of the old Roxy classic 'Love Is The Drug' and 'Elle'. The ride through this work is breathtaking, the vibe is enormous, the buzz is quite wonderful; together Andy Mackay (sax, oboe), Paul Thompson (drums), Julia Thornton (harp, percussion), TJ Allen (guitar, laptop) and Hazel Mills (piano, vocals) (plus a couple of friends!) lay down a bright, modernistic sound that runs the gamut of emotions as it trips lightly but exotically through many musical nuances on its way to the creation of a beautifully inspiring sonic soundscape. Play this as background music over dinner, play it to add a touch of finesse to an outdoor party around the pool, play it low and cool or turn the baby right up, really give it some dbs and let it rock out loud and proud - the result will be the same - it's quite sensational!!
