Play 90 second soundbite of 'Billy The Kid' @ 'CD quality'
AS yet unsigned, The Long Run lay down their musical wares with a sort of laid back groove that'll get them noticed. Ok, the recording could be a bit better (in terms of what should be in and what shouldn't), although as a demo it's more than acceptable. The songs are infectious if occasionally a little staid in feel. But, The Long Run obviously have talent - they're relatively young in terms of how long they've been together and maybe that shows just a little. As time progresses, I feel sure that The Long Run will build on their individuality and start to become a force to be reckoned with. At the moment their music lacks a little conviction and direction; they're probably trying too hard too early - trying to be too cute rather than keeping it simple and to the point. The three tracks here demonstrate potential but lack just a little in conviction. I'm sure they'll continue to find their way together - they've got all the right tools - now they need to make their individual tools work as one, as a well oiled machine of a unit - fully focussed and honed. Then, The Long Run may just be a bit special.
Attention to detail is important but this 'Demo' by The Long Run comes lacking in 'on-board' information; no title - but that's acceptable for a demo, no track listing - bad boys, no personnel info - who are they? Further, the promo info accompanying this work tells of influences and gigging prowess but doesn't really sell them very well. It all gives a feeling of being rushed and unprepared - and that's what I feel about The Long Run overall; there's a lot more to come and hopefully The Long Run will knuckle down and really come together as a unit - it's not too far off, just needs tidying up! I don't mean to sound negative and really hope my comments are taken in the spirit they're meant. But anyway, good work thus far lads!
