The Lancashire Hotpots are a recently formed, comedy, Northern folk band. 'Their debut album, 'Never Mind The Hotpots', is a work that brings comedy folk to the 21st century; typically northern humour based around the modern marvels of Sat Nav, computer wizardry, Myspace and loads loads more. Piss-take maybe - but there's some wise old words in there too!

'Never Mind The Hotpots' is superbly entertaining and a little-left-of-centre retro folk. Certainly, these guys write some really funny words and they perform their songs with typical 'old-school' folk club passion and professionalism. With just the occasional recourse to musical plagiarism, The Lancashire Hotpots use their cutting edge lyrics to rip into our technological world - and, they make some quite important observations as they mock'n'roll through fourteen hilarious tracks. For those old enough, if you think of Mike Harding and his outrageously comic but often deadly serious ramblings, well, The Lancashire Hotpots are along those lines.

There's no doubting the fact that these guys can wax lyrical about just about anything and there's no doubt about their ability to perform to a high standard. But, where do they go with this? Is there still a market-place for comedy folk out there? Well, there's bound to be and given the right venues / promotion etc, The Lancashire Hotpots could eventually reach that pot of gold at the end of their rainbow. Certainly, there's several of the songs here that would work extremely well as stand-alone singles. If they could get some appropriate radio time, The Lancashire Hotpots could actually be one of the surprise packages of 2007. Let's face it, every so often songs of this type do sell extremely well and turn out to have commercial longevity - and, The Lancashire Hotpots have the equipment here to make it work if the wind blows the right way for them. I can well imagine The Lancashire Hotpots being an absolute hoot in the live scenario - promotion, promotion, promotion is what's needed here and then maybe we could all be enjoying the madcap outpourings of this silly band of musical reprobates.

'Never Mind The Hotpots' by The Lancashire Hotpots is a smashin' piece of light hearted, observational retro folk that has the potential to do extremely well if given the right exposure. Later this year you could all be singing along to 'Ebay 'eck' or 'I Met My Girl On Myspace' or 'The Firewall Song' or 'Dolby 5.1' or just about any of the really well written songs that appear on this fun album.
