The Indigo Road

Single - Simple / Goodbye To You

Play 90 second soundbite of 'Simple' @ 'CD quality'

Two quite different works here; the acoustically mellow 'Simple' and the penetratingly electric 'Goodbye To You'. The Indigo Road appear to have set out as a nucleus outfit into which they will call on outside help in order to keep the feel of the 'project' live, fresh and varied.

Varied is also shown here with two side of the musical coin featuring the excellent vocals of 'guest' Heidi Jo Hines; 'Simple' is exactly what it is, a beautifully crafted simplistic song showcasing voices as much as anything else. Hines uses her effortless but breathy sounding tones to bring the power and emotion to this starkly instrumented piece. Stunningly performed and massively radio friendly, 'Simple' is a little gem!

The robust sound and feel of 'Goodbye To You' is in stark contrast to the opening song; alternating from serene and gentle to big and ballsy, 'Goodbye To You' covers a lot of musical ground. Hines is allowed to let rip a bit here as she vies with the guitar riffs and fills. The piece rocks as much as it lilts with light swapping with shade and visa versa.

As an introduction to The Indigo Road, this double 'A' sider is a peach of a work - all the indications are that The Indigo Road are gonna be comin' at yer with something a bit different on each and every occasion - The Indigo Road plan to be fluid, organic and unpredictable. Certainly, the two tracks here get them off to a brilliant start and given good promo I can see both of these tracks getting good air-time. Really good stuff on top of an interesting, transient concept. One to watch out for methinks!!
