Play 90 second soundbite of 'Nightmares' @ 'CD quality'
Call it alternative if you want but The Hidden Revolution's music sure is full of adventure and escapism; frantic manic and menacing melodies, staccato fills, massive crescendos and twisted harmonics combine blissfully and amazingly gracefully with ethereal and ambient interludes to result in a fascinating and captivating modern form of contemporary rock that at times borders on 'progressive' whilst maintaining a loosely commercial edge. I use the word 'commercial' advisedly cuz The Hidden Revolution aint exactly doin' what yer average man-in-the-street is after. This is maturely experimental 'cultish' music for the more open and experimental ear.
'Nightmares' and 'Conscience' by The Hidden Revolution are as different from the 'norm' as they are enticing individually and collectively. Two fantastically powerful songs treated with massive energy and blinding finesse; as bass and drums 'dance' around the theme they unerringly drive the guitars and vocals to generate a thunderous yet hauntingly powerful sound that's just about the mutt's nuts. The Hidden Revolution show creative strength and musical dexterity as they pound out their scintillating, adrenalin drenched music with total disregard for the aural health of the listener. But, this aint just any old sonic 'noise', oh no, this is alternative rock at its very best; it's complex yet harmonious, it's devious yet vital, it's controlled musical mayhem and it's an absolute blast! Fantastic work here from a band that sound ready and up for it - right up my street - two songs just aint enough though, The Hidden Revolution have whetted my appetite and I'm hungry for more!
It's no wonder that The Hidden Revolution have chosen to release this as a double 'A' cuz it sure is hard to pick a winner from the two - both are equally exciting and similarly obtuse. I'd sure like to hear an album from these guys - awesome stuff!!
