Play 90 second soundbite of 'Me & My Mate' @ 'CD quality'
Latter-day Jam-like, Weller-esque if you will, in its fresh-faced, realistic appeal and a little rockin' Small Faces-like in its guarded but gritty content, 'Me & My Mate' has a quirky commerciality - a bit like McFly meets Green Day to compare to contemporary 'stars'. There's nothing at all pretentious about The Brainchild; regular, everyday guys writing about what they see rather than what they believe and playing with seriously mature professionalism.
Only us Brits can make music like this; people's music, no-frills, business-like, street poetry put to well crafted 'scores'. 'Me & My Mate' and its 'B' side, 'Kingmaker' both benefit from elevated db levels - the volume only emphasising the band's punchy, toe-tappin' style. The Brainchild's somewhat controlled ebullience is infectious and, loaded with radio-friendliness, the boys should get plenty of air-play to promote their battlecry and their cause.
'Me & My Mate' by The Brainchild is crackin' single to kick-start The Brainchild's assault on the pop charts. The Brainchild have been canny with these two songs, preferring to keep their attack well within the bounds of playability, not too showy or over-dubbed, just well thought out rockin' realism. Should do well and see The Brainchild movin' on up!
