Play 90 second soundbite of 'Badboy' @ 'CD quality'
'One Desire' totals thirteen tracks, of mainly covers it has to be said, that push all the right buttons in the right places - particularly if Rockabilly's your thing. Now, it's not really my thing but these snappily dressed 'billies' are damn good at what they do. They're extremely tight and do exactly what's needed. They aren't trying to start a new 'billy' laden genre - they're just sticking to first principles and makin' a bloody good job of it. They play with great and natural freedom that delivers a bright performance.
What I particularly like about The Bad Boy's is that they keep it straight and simple. They don't try to copy anyone else and they don't pretend to be anyone else. Here we have The Bad Boy's, plain and simple. They're here to entertain and that's good enough for me. These guys'll get loads of work for sure and with their youthful good looks and clean image they're sure to break a few hearts along the way.
'One desire' shows great maturity instrumentally but just sounds a little too silky-smooth. I can't help feel that a bit more grit in the vocals would raise the ante somewhat and add a bit of depth. Time and age will put that right. Apart from that I can't fault their work. And hey, anyway, that's just my personal view and not a criticism in any way!!
'One Desire' is a totally competent piece of work. The Bad Boy's should sell plenty as they win the hearts of audiences on their travels. Rockabilly looks to be in safe hands for the future!
