Play 90 second soundbite of 'Afraid' @ 'CD quality'
The whole essence of TestTone3 is encapsulated, quite succinctly, in 'Afraid'. It's precisely what that description above says it is - a ballsy concoction of rockin' dancey rhythms wrapped around with bright screamin' guitars, massive bass work and great vocals ... and all the rest of it. 'Gettin' Nasty' is far more subtle and relaxed. As the synths trip lightly into the song they carry you along in their wake. You find yourself listening and waiting for...well, who knows what! Nearly three minutes in and the synths relent - pause - wow, here we go again with the massive dancey rock thing. The pulsating rhythms carry you dreamily along in a haze of appreciation. Very clever, very innovative, very very nice. 'The Time Is Now' is the third and final offering. More pounding rhythms, pulsating synths and screaming guitars come together with the vocals still managing to break clearly through. This demo is remarkably well put together. It's imaginative and it asks questions of the listener. This is quite stunning!!
When I read the blurb that came with this demo I really thought it wouldn't be for me. It took all of one listen to realise how wrong I was. I think this is a superb and refreshingly original work and with it TestTone3 show very clearly that these bad boys are not messin' around. They've got a musical vision and they're doing a damn fine job of reaching for the big prize. I really hope that they manage to get the recognition they so richly deserve. TestTone3 pull together many influences, they mix it up and take no notice of tradition and normality - and it bloody well works. The feel is gigantic. The pace is awesome. The whole idea is one that I congratulate them on.
