Play 90 second soundbite of 'Too Much' @ 'CD quality'
Loud and proud, that's how 'Lines' should be played - just let the pulsating electro vibe do its worst and the rest will follow. Musically, 'Lines' is modernistic pop, real straight-arrow disco-pop, scarily honest and unnervingly focussed pop for pop's sake. Lyrically Testcard show a slightly different side to their musicality - their words are observational, full of emotional reality, maturely poetic even. Testcard are actually a bit of a musical enigma - blatant and youthful on the one hand and worldly and grown-up on the other - one minute they're off into meditative trance-land, the next they're back in story-tellin' mode. Whichever facet is being offered or taking priority, Testcard play with absolute conviction and self-belief - Testcard mean business, of that I'm sure!
Absolutely 'now' in form but with unashamedly obvious retro nuances, 'Lines' is sharp-edged, clean-lined and gleamingly polished - Testcard have dotted all the i's and crossed all the t's and left nothing to chance here. The mix is brilliant and the production is crisp and precise - if Testcard wanted perfection, they got it!!
Superbly assembled and stunningly performed, 'Lines' by Testcard positively sparkles with electro-glam, it's openly simplistic but inherently cultured, digitally driven and pop motivated - danceable pop, singalongable pop - a positive fx-fest of digi-art-pop.
