Tenderhooks

Single - Ma Ma Mr.Nice

Play 90 second soundbite of 'Ma Ma Mr.Nice' @ 'CD quality'

Aptly named Tenderhooks and their unique blend of indie with some of the weirder rock machinations of electro experimentation are releasing their new single, 'Ma Ma Mr.Nice' and look set to provide that well needed wake-up call to the music scene. Tenderhooks' may have chosen an alternative musical route but it's that element of surprise and their charming Englishness that sets them apart from the rest - tender hooks indeed!

Tenderhooks just don't conform and they certainly don't simply follow like so many outfits out there; Tenderhooks strive to lead with their catchy commercial take on 'pop' rock. Tenderhooks make a joyous noise as they continue to push hard at the 'envelope', refusing to be just another indie band, refusing to take the easy road, refusing to sell out to commercial banality. 'Ma Ma Mr.Nice' typifies Tenderhooks' carefully nurtured alternative soft rock approach and showcases their imaginative writing and skilful musicianship.

The unusually angular but jangly intro to the ballsy 'Ma Ma Mr.Nice' gives us a clue! Listen further to sample the gloriously harmonious melodies and clever choruses that make Tenderhooks the driving force they are. If you're anything like me you'll soon be adding your own harmonies as you can't help but join in! Accompanied by the equally enjoyable 'Tiny Bombs' with its beautifully 'orchestral' intro and the irresistible 'The One Meant For Me', 'Ma Ma Mr.Nice' by Tenderhooks pretty much tells the Tenderhooks story in short shrift; Tenderhooks go the gentle but alarmingly hooky route towards commerciality - perhaps still a little leftfield for absolute mainstream success but without a doubt true contenders, Tenderhooks just have something that little bit different that makes them special.

All the tracks here feature on the third Tenderhooks album with 'Ma Ma Mr.Nice' the first to be selected for 'solo' flight. Tenderhooks work is innovative and very persuasive - Tenderhooks, as they carefully tread their way forward by ignoring indie normality, choose invention over same-old, same-old; Tenderhooks' slightly more gentle but ever so catchy way may take longer to reach the 'pot of gold' but, as long as they don't give up the fight, Tenderhooks are worthy contenders and deserve success and fame for their slightly diverse take on popular electric music. 'Ma Ma Mr.Nice' by Tenderhooks is wonderfully different and thoroughly deserves whatever positive plaudits it gets - different, yes - hit material, probably not - worth a listen, oh yes!! Seek 'em out; you might be pleasantly surprised!
