The album has a slightly tongue in cheek feel; its down home lyrics and lo-fi production certainly set it aside from many of the often over-produced and 'deep meaning' works that seem to fly from the record stores with such gay abandon and in similarly reckless fashion. 'Rodeo Wine' will not be storming up the charts al la Busted or Mcfly (thankfully!!) - but those with enough good sense to buy this work will be able to revel in the knowledge that they've at least have bought into something real and homely - and damn good.
'Rodeo Wine' is different enough to maybe just provide a wake up call to many. Its a charmingly simple work that quickly gets deep down into your heart - it makes you smile - it's fulfilling and wholesome. Telford Mining Disaster have eked out a wonderfully fresh, almost naive, sounding work from the deep, dark depths of their musically tormented pasts. 'Rodeo Wine' deserves success - it successfully put two fingers up at the record business moguls and gets away with it.
