Svengali

Single - Start Of The Scene

Play 90 second soundbite of 'Start Of The Scene' @ 'CD quality'

Here, Edinburgh three-piece Svengali offer you a sizeable chunk of punchy pop-rock in the form of their latest single 'Start Of The Scene'.

Perhaps somewhat akin to the commercial rockin' way of Oasis, Svengali rely on similarly hefty tuneful riffs and big rhythmic backdrops to feed and punctuate the slightly angry sounding vocals - nice attitude, good vibe, great energy! Svengali keep it all pretty familiar but not too predictable - on the whole it seems to be a reasonably straight-forward formula that Svengali have utilised and added their own swags and tails to - one that's proved to be timeless and very popular, so why not?!

The three make quite a lot of noise and generate a powerful and pretty shit-hot vibe and certainly 'Start Of The Scene' sounds very viable and 'now'. It's not an earth-shatteringly original style or sound but it definitely is one that works and continues to work - this is definitely an 'if it aint broke, don't fix it' kinda scenario. But hey, that probably sounds a little harsh but I didn't mean it to; Svengali sit proudly and competently in the realms of commercial indie/rock and have much to offer if 'Start A Scene' is typical of their music. 'Start Of The Scene' by Svengali is a ripper and a worker - maybe not an exceptional song in its own right but certainly on the right road and showing promise and potential.
