St Vitus Dance

CD - Glypotheque

Play 90 second soundbite of 'Winners All' @ 'CD quality'

'Glypotheque' by St Vitus Dance is a piece of mature pop with Celtic leanings and singalongable qualities. With the youcanalljoininability but less pure-pop of the House Martins or the Undertones and the low-key Irish nuances but less pop-rock of the Waterboys, St Vitus Dance have something for everyone here - balladic nu-country, twangy, old-school pop and soft-rock excursions all underpinned with a distinctive but well proportioned drop of good old lilting Irish.

'Glypotheque' is a charmingly accessible work of massive quality and likeability. Probably not an album to make massive waves in or around the 'charts' of today but none-the-less a very accomplished and polished piece of work, 'Glypotheque' has that radio-friendliness that'll go down well on the radio slots of the likes of Terry Wogan and his ilk. 'Glypotheque' by St Vitus Dance demonstrates that 'pop' music doesn't have to be trite; 'Glypotheque' is poetic and melodic but never lets itself become banal - it's pop music for the discerning, the connoisseur and perhaps the nostalgic! It's thoughtfully composed and beautifully delivered by an outfit that shows dedication, professionalism and understated pride in a final product that's fit for purpose - that purpose is to gently and patiently entertain those willing to listen with classy, grown-up pop music.

'Glypotheque' by St Vitus Dance will find friends and takers from many walks of life; I don't see it being an album that'll take off big style - more of a slow and gentle worker, a timeless sounding work that'll give great pleasure to not only their dedicated followers but also to anyone that comes into serious contact with it. 'Glypotheque' by St Vitus Dance is mature pop as it was before 'indie' took hold - passionate lyrics set to infectious melodies - individualistic and charismatic - contemporary poetry set to music having both pop sensibility and well honed maturity.
