Play 90 second soundbite of 'Under The Sea' @ 'CD quality'
Stuntdog do psychedelic alt rock as good as any band I've come across - they remind me somewhat of Gong, Pink Floyd, Caravan, Soft Machine, Robert Wyatt and many more - (including Nick Drake and Donovan - now how strange is that?) - their music is dynamic yet alarmingly restful, catchy, fun and, probably above all else, elegant! This is a bloody great demo; just four tracks but what tracks!! Stuntdog's music exudes quintessential Britishness; no other Nation does music quite like this - it's really cool and really exciting!! I love the way that Stuntdog don't over-do the electro side of this; this is well balanced utilisation of modern musical instrumentation. All that combined with very impressive songwriting and you've got a recipe for success - these dudes are good!!
I'm extremely impressed with this demo - it's not quite what I thought it would be but I'm glad my pre-conception turned out to be a total mis-conception coz Stuntdog are bloody excellent and I wish this was a full-blown album!! Yes, seriously, Stuntdog have pressed a button with me, they've reached parts that most similarly ilked outfit fail to reach - in just four excellent tracks, four fantastic modernistic works of aural pleasure, four real grafters, Stuntdog have me hooked and ready to reel in. Tracks included here are, 'Under The Sea', 'You Don't Really Need It', 'Hazard Man' and 'Let Go'; each as good as the next, each with an identity all of its own yet each sits beautifully in context with the others. Superb demo from a very talented, very innovative band!! Super stuff!!
