Their Myspace page says, and I quote, 'Stop Eject are four persons. They are all different. They currently live in Nottingham. They make indie art math. They do not sound a whole lot like anyone else. They wish they could fit in better.

Ok, I can go along with most of that!! However, the bit about wishing they could fit in better - what's all that about guys - the fact that you're 'misfits' makes all the difference and sets you apart from the indie norm. Listen , as soon as this excellent EP kicked off I was mentally praising Stop Eject for being different, for doing something a little obtuse, for sounding only like Stop Eject and for their inspired ability to be unlike the 'others'. Stop Eject have a special sound; a lot of that is down to the vocals coz this guy's got an amazing voice and he uses it to create a new dynamic, an extra instrument if you will. Yep, I absolutely love the vocal work on 'Cargo Cult Science' but that's not the end of it by a long way! The other boys all play their part to make Stop Eject's weird and wonderful sound. There's the frenetic at times frantic but somehow metronomic percussive work that drives everything else forward. There's the crisply throbbing bass that sits side side by side with the drums to form the piston power in the 'engine room'. There's the angular, abrasive and spiky guitar that punctuates and 'colours' everything in its wake. Then, finally, there's the entity that is Stop Eject - clever, driven, inspired, I'm lovin' it!!

'Cargo Cult Science' by Stop Eject is a beautifully individual and rewarding five tracks of 'art math' indie rock; at times schizoid, at times tangential, at times mechanical, but always interesting, motivating and somewhat enjoyably scary. Stop Eject must never, never be tempted to move away from their massively enjoyable if somewhat compositionally challenged modernistic stylee. Stop Eject have impressed me massively with 'Cargo Cult Science' - the only fault is that, appetite now suitably whetted, I'm craving for more of the same. I can't wait for a larger work in the form of a full-blown album to grace my door mat so that I may imbibe of its sweet musical nectar and get off on its post-indie grace and grandeur! Excellent!!
