Play 90 second soundbite of 'Weightless' @ 'CD quality'
Although 'The Weightless EP' has a big production it somehow retains a very accessible quality and deeply inspiring simplicity - Cold Play meets Badly Drawn Boy, if you will. I find myself being slowly drawn in as the work progresses - there's something very cool about this guy. It's a bit like a piece of modern, reproduction furniture that's somehow built up a deep, rich patina - a high quality piece that's a pleasure to own.
The last couple of years have seen several 'solo' male artists in a similar vein breaking into the mass market; Damien Rice and James Blunt to name just two. I can't see any reason why Stillman couldn't and shouldn't be up there amongst them! 'The Weightless EP' undeniably shows that Stillman has everything firmly in place and totally under control to be able to get there. Now he just needs that little bit of luck - the right place at the right time - the right face in the right crowd - the push from his management/promotional team. Certainly, if I was to walk into one of the major record retailers whilst this was playing I'd be asking about it and putting my hand in my pocket for a copy!
Stillman has something very special - 'The Weightless EP' is superbly put together taster of what surely must be a fruitful musical career. Excellent Stuff!!
