As this album, 'Son Veneno' opens there's an immediate feel of 'class' about it. Leaning heavily on their Latino origins, Son Veneno have come up with a beautiful fusion of hip hop, jazz, funk, reggae and rock. A vibrant and tremendously likeable piece of work, 'Son Veneno' is like a musical trip around the world, calling at all ports and stopping just long enough in each one to influence the mix.

'Son Veneno' is not exactly 'World Music'; it's just a charming coming together is rhythms and styles that is like nothing else I've ever heard. As I listen I can well image the smiles on the faces of the band as they recorded this; this is happy music, music to make you smile but serious stuff none the less. Stylish Latino rhythms are almost ever-present but just as you get into the foot-tappin' groove, Son Veneno lift you up and transport you to another place with another style. Superbly written and stylishly crafted, 'Son Veneno' (the album) is compulsive stuff, it just drags you in and holds you there.

Son Veneno (the band) are quite clearly very fine musicians with a penchant for rhythmic change and an ability to create music incorporating a glorious sense of musical fun. The end result is a massively catchy album of classy songs, all played to an extremely high standard. I repeat, I've not come across anything quite so diversely interesting and fascinatingly entertaining before - 'Son Veneno' is magnificent!

As you listen to this album there's an inherent energy and sense of unity that almost bursts out at you. 'Son Veneno' is pure entertainment, an absolute pleasure to listen to, a bright if somewhat challenging compilation of exceptional songs performed to perfection. Rhythmic heaven - absolutely knockout stuff!
