Play 90 second soundbite of 'Office Girlfriend' @ 'CD quality'
You may think that Silvertop are just another indie/rock outfit but the way this lot get their edgy music across suggests that they've got something a bit tasty goin' on. Certainly, from 'Office Girlfriend', 'Falling' and 'Half Life' it's not hard to see the potential; these guys have a raw energy that'll see them doing well. With a distinctive vocal sound and solid instrumental work Silvertop are just far enough outside of the indie norm to make them interestingly unusual. With quite a lot going on behind the voice, Silvertop manage to keep it clean and distinct - nice work guys!
Just occasionally Silvertop sound a little familiar but not 'that' familiar - just real, honest, uncontrived, very 'now' rock'n'roll!! With damn good, impressively worked songs and a great attitude, Silvertop do the biz bloody well.
'Office Girlfriend', the whole EP, is full of rhythmic hooks and ballsy riffs. Although 'Office Girlfriend' and 'Falling' err on the commercial side, I actually really like 'Half Life' because it pushes at the envelope a bit more and suggests that Silvertop have much to offer.
