Play 90 second soundbite of 'Pop Music' @ 'CD quality'
This Worcester outfit's style is very much one of punk laced pop/rock. The rock injection comes from sassy, chunky guitar riffs that run something approaching a marathon with non-stop runs, fills and chords that fill out the sound superbly.
The guitars are partnered by mildly angry sounding vocals that add some of the punk edge. Behind them come the solid and workmanlike rhythm boys with drums and bass pounding out their stylish, meaty beats with precision and panache. Everything melts smoothly together and results in a tight and busily energetic 'pop' feel.
Performance-wise Silver tequila look to have all sides covered. They're commercially just about on the spot. If I sense any weakness at all it's in the songwriting; nowt wrong really but as the eight tracks peel off the player I keep getting a feeling of deja-vu. The tracks are quite individual but the overall feel is one of adrenalin and frantic speed; there's no real let-up, no light and shade to give contrast and colour. Perhaps that's another feature of Silver Tequila that gives them the punkiness. However, I'd like to here something less aurally aggressive thrown into the melee - and anyway who said punk always has to be frantic?
Silver Tequila have a solid and busy feel that'll get pulses racing wherever they play. This demo will serve as an excellent memento of the 'live' Tequilas work and should serve them well as a part of a promotional package.
