Silverfall

EP Sampler

Play 90 second soundbite of 'Don't Cry Michael' @ 'CD quality'

Silverfall are, Jenny Bailey (vocals, rhythm guitar & keyboards), Michael Law (bass) and Lee Emmett (drums & percussion) and this stunning 'Sampler' EP from Silverfall is so good it almost hurts. Bailey could easily be likened to Stevie Nicks and indeed she has been. However, I find Bailey's vocals easier on the ear than Nicks' and I feel Bailey sings with more emotion too - real feeling for the lyrics. And,she manages to get just enough grit, when the time is right, into her voice to make all the difference. At times I can also hear elements of Natalie Merchant in Bailey's voice and hey, that's not a bad thing is it - Nicks plus Merchant plus home-grown purity and individuality!! Wow!!

With only three tracks to go on it's hard to know exactly what their true potential is but, I can't help but feel that Silverfall are special enough to be very big indeed. Certainly there's nothing to fault here and nothing to dislike but there is plenty to admire and definitely a lot to enjoy - stunning songwriting, superb musicianship, excellent arrangements and loads of like-ability - so pure, oh so pure!

Silverfall play with such grace and feeling and without ever breaking into a sweat, capture all the right emotions with consummate ease. The more I listen, the more I'm lulled into the beautiful musical world of Silverfall. This 'Sampler' EP, hopefully, is the forerunner to an album; I, for one, can't wait to hear more from Silverfall - exquisite stuff, full of promise, tantalising, absorbing and many more superlatives that I can't quite think of coz Silverfall have got me totally hooked and I'm losing the bloody plot! Magnificent!!

Magnificent!!
