Shelley Jones has a big soul feel here; she's noted as being a 'contemporary' vocalist and I can see where that's coming from without question. However, Shelley Jones has something of the soul diva in her too; her whole approach takes me back to those days when soul was full of exactly that and Rhythm & Blues did what it said on the tin! Jones respectfully rearranges any number of musical genre here to end up with an eclectic and pretty exotic collection of songs dripping with quality and class. Jones doesn't push too hard at genre boundaries here though; she keeps everything good, tight and genuine. Jones could have gone for the massive wall of 'orchestrated' sound but she didn't; she's chosen, wisely, to let simple be distinctive and less be more. It works wonderfully well and allows the listener full access to the lyrics through Jones' beautiful, almost laid back, vocal delivery. The lady is smooth. The lady is polished. The lady is class.
Canadian songstress Shelley Jones certainly knows a good song when she writes it!! And here, she's giving you ample opportunity to check out her strength in depth as a singer/songwriter and enjoy her vocal dexterity as she smooches her way effortlessly through ten heavenly, 'timeless' tracks. Although she doesn't take too many risks here she makes this album work on every level; let it run, sit back and enjoy and I bet you'll be pressing 'play' again and again - yes, 'Faithfully' is pretty damn addictive and Shelley Jones kinda gets under your skin (in the nicest possible way!) with her take on 'contemporary' soulful pop music. 'Faithfully' by Shelley Jones is beautifully conceived, stunningly performed and masterfully crafted and is surely destined to become a timeless 'modern classic'. Very nice indeed!!
