Shark Attack

Demo - Shark Attack Live

Play 90 second soundbite of 'Spooky' @ 'CD quality'

The Shark Attack quintet come with an impressive pedigree. They bring massive experience and talent that's clear to hear on this tasty live demo outing. The well seasoned and finely honed musicianship of Elmer O'Shea, Bev Smith and Bill Gilbert sits neatly with the free passion and dynamics of their younger partners Phil Basterfield and Sally Haines.

'Shark Attack Live' has all the right ingredients; as a showcase for the band it'll be just fine. Without frills, the four tracks here act as a musical CV for a band of extremely fine musicians. If I have just one criticism it would be that the live recording lacks a little 'balls'; there's no doubting their skills but this just lacks a little energy and real depth.

Shark Attack have taken their wealth of experience, and combined years of session work and gigging together with their passion for music and come together to form an outfit that slips effortlessly from jazzy funk, through cool blues and into R&B/soul. On their sojourn they demonstrate their individual and united abilities through this short live work. Tight and free flowing Shark Attack breeze through 'I'm Easy', 'Spooky', 'Fools Game, and 'Tired Of Talking'. The band ooze natural talent and sound as though they've been playing together for years. They haven't of course - they're a relatively new outfit that've taken a little time to find each other and explore and utilise each others natural abilities. The end result sounds pretty damn good! Shark Attack are sure to make an impression with their rock-solid and seamlessly tight musicianship. However, their chosen genre may just hold them back a little initially while they win people over and ease them into their funky little world. But on the evidence of '... Live' they have all the right tools, they've all certainly served successful apprenticeships to get to the standard they are now at. With a push here and a shove there Shark Attack will be opening new doors with this demo - watch out!!
