Play 90 second soundbite of 'Don't Lie (original 1999 mix)' @ 'CD quality'
Opening with a sensuous and chilled Martin Buttrich remix 'Don't Lie' carries an catchy if, low-key, bass line amidst arid sounding samples and electro tags. DJ Fex lifts the piece from dream-land with a punchy bass driven mix scattered with synthed cascades and echoes. The LouLou Players take is scratchy and hypnotically biased utilising ballsy beats and schizoid voices. Nick K offers another low-key version governed very much by the repetitive, slinky bass line and percussive 'noises'. This remix work finishes with 'Don't Lie (original version)' and shows what a big 'piece' it really is; a thunderous electronic cacophony of big beats, repetitive grooves, industrial interventions and with an overall feeling that borders on the anthemic 'wall of sound'.
The shortest track here sits at just under seven minutes and the longest just over eight - great value and plenty to come to terms with!! Certainly a work that offers a great deal, 'Sharem Jey's 'Don't Lie' is a must-have for anyone with a penchant for experimental electro grooves and punchy dance oriented mixes. Five takes that feel like five individual tracks to cream yourself to! Nice work!!
