Hailing from Sweden, the intriguing and beguiling Sara Berg gives her all on this great album, 'When I Was A Young Child I Used To Feel Pleasure From Playing With Others'. Coming at you from the general direction of 'electro pop', Sara's music is showcased superbly here with a massively impressive outing that is refreshingly individual and hugely entertaining.

With superb diction and enunciation Sara Berg allows easy access to her often dark sounding emotional songs; dark maybe, but not without a huge degree of dramatic vibrancy and a distinct element of annoyingly catchy melodies. Her songs may indeed be quite dramatic but Sara definitely draws you into her cool musical world with her stunning vocal work set against a beautifully composed and never over-crowded digital backdrop. By not falling into any distinct genre trap Sara's music manages to retain a hefty commercial element and I found that the more I listened, the more I appreciated what this talented young lady is doing.

'When I Was A Young Child I Used To Feel Pleasure From Playing With Others' is quite intoxicating to the point of being compelling. Berg cleverly avoids being drawn into many of the electro traps that so many similarly ilked artists hurl themselves headlong into; her music is never predictable or monotonous - she's always shifting into places that you probably wouldn't expect given her digitally loaded composition. If you allow yourself to be picked up by Berg's music and just let her carry you along within its soul you'll probably experience creative empathy and feel a lot better for it. Berg generates some really cool stuff here and the overall feel is pretty chilled given its powerful lyrical content. 'When I Was A Young Child I Used To Feel Pleasure From Playing With Others' works in every aspect and on every level - an extremely tidy and very accomplished piece of work that shows massive potential.

As an album, this is pretty much faultless, the only criticism I really have is that the title of this great work is so bloody hard to remember - at least 'Sara Berg' slips off the tongue easily though! Seriously, 'When I Was A Young Child I Used To Feel Pleasure From Playing With Others' by Sara Berg is a fascinating album and whether you normally go in for electro pop or not there's plenty to admire and enjoy within its twelve tracks and nearly forty-nine minutes.
