Play 90 second soundbite of 'It's Not Your Fault' @ 'CD quality'
Unusually, I don't have any press information on this outfit or the album so I can't tell you much about them or their story other than to say that the sleeve notes tell of a three piece comprising Samuel C Lees (guitars, vocals, keyboards, programming), Adam Ogiliev (bass, vocals) and Andy Perfect (drums). Suffice to say, the music tells the story pretty well on its own; there's eleven ballsy tracks of riff laden blue rock to sink yer teeth into here. And, with hint of country blues and shades of delta, what more could you ask for?
The album opens furiously with the title track, 'Bigg Mann' and the fast and furious continues for a few tracks. It's not all fast and furious though - these guys know how to take it down and break it up as shown on the excellent 'It's not Your Fault' - some great guitar work here.
The whole blue/rock thing is a pretty well trodden path so you've gotta find something to make your mark with and The Samuel C Lees Band manage to 'make a difference' with some nifty variations such as the short but cool instrumental 'Dusty Road Blues'. Hey, these guys are good - they're tight and very together. The Samuel C Lees Band don't sound like a trio at all, their sound is impressively full and well crafted. This is a damn good album.
