Salon Boris

CD - I Am The Drug

Play 90 second soundbite of 'White Paths' @ 'CD quality'

Russian/Scottish collaborators Salon Boris have just one aim, "reclaiming electro for the pop song" and 'I Am The Drug' pushes the point firmly home. Salon Boris make elegant pop music that takes my mind back several years but leaves my feet planted squarely in the 'now'.

'I Am The Drug' is actually a very clever piece of work. It's full of elegant electro vibes and catchy pop hooks (well that is their aim!!). But, it's much more than that; Salon Boris's music is simple, uncluttered and breathlessly slick. To add spice, the slinky voice of Russian beauty Tatyana Bugayeva gives the songs a sexy feel.

Electro and techno music is often dark and self-indulgent; Salon Boris put the light back on and let you join in. 'I Am The Drug' has inherent trance-like qualities but feels exactly like good old, synth based, pop music. Any number of the tracks here would be absolutely brilliant for television commercials and short film soundtracks.

It's a great value, two disc package with one hour of 'I Am The Drug' and a further thirty minutes plus of 'Remixes'. Extremely easy to listen to, 'I Am The Drug' is a crackin' release within its genre. I found the whole Salon Boris thing absorbing, relaxing and worryingly likeable!!
