Brave move this by alt/indie/rocksters Runner - a live demo - warts 'n' all - risky - but in this case it's worked really well! Runner give a good account of themselves here in just four tracks - Runner have a style and sound of their own and this is definitely a case of what you hear is what you get.

The four tracks show quite clearly that Runner are very together, very polished and very cool. Runner, although clearly underpinned with good old indie ramifications, take the genre further and deeper. Their songs show great maturity and understanding of composition; they're written with what I can only describe as 'a sideways glance' at the bizarrely alternative coz it's in the vocals department that Runner make the biggest difference. Godfrey Mc Fall (vocals and guitar) puts in a superb performance that suggests he really 'feels' the lyrics; McFall adds real passion as he bravely goes about his vocal acrobatics with conviction and great control. The rhythm section comprising Andy Bruce (bass) and Alex Walker (drums) supply a magnificently solid backdrop of phatt, punchy bass lines and beautifully proportioned, metronomic percussion. Guitarist Rob Marshall fills all the rest of the gaps with sophisticated and nifty runs, riffs and chords. The overall sound of Runner is bold, big and beefy!

As a demo, this four tracker certainly gets the job done - without all the extras that could be added in the studio, Runner instinctively give it out with absolute honesty and real guts. Runner sound like a band that'll rattle the walls from any live stage - I certainly like their attitude and they've definitely impressed me with their genuine approach. A pretty cool demo that should get these guys plenty of work - great stuff!!
