Play 90 second soundbite of 'Let It Feel The Way It Feels' @ 'CD quality'
'The Way It Feels' quickly becomes compulsive listening; there's a terrific feeling of youthful optimism amidst the persuasive often earthy songs. Lyrically, Potvin writes with a mature sincerity and shows a natural talent for kickin' up a dynamic groove. Her vocal delivery is slick and full of sentiment and she keeps her guitar playing at a suitably laid back level. Roxanne Potvin shows here that she has a special gift and is ready to take on all-comers. Certainly, you could lift out almost any track from this album and make it a single worthy of challenging most of the more proven artists. No matter what groove she slips effortlessly into, Potvin gives it her heart and soul. It's no small wonder that her name is currently being passed around within the industry and amongst knowledgeable music followers. This girl has massive potential and 'The Way It Feels' is a fantastic, bordering on awesome release!
In just twelve excellent tracks Roxanne Potvin has whet my appetite and shown that 'the blues' indeed has a bright future in the industrious hands of this fascinating new, twenty-three year old. With the variation of themes shown here I can easily imagine Roxanne becoming more than just a cult blues artist; she has all the right ingredients to become a big household name alongside the likes of Norah Jones, Nina Simone and many more similarly commercially viable artists.
Roxanne Potvin's 'The Way It Feels' is almost exactly that, listen and you'll get the picture coz what you hear is all about 'the way it feels' - and it all feels pretty damn good and exciting to me! Superb album!
